"Schoolyard" (previously called U5) is a program designed for players that are 4 and 5 years old. It continues the learning of fundamental motor skills and introduces soccer skills. We utilize what is called a Jamboree system at this age. The children learn soccer skills like dribbling, and shooting, but in a low-pressure setting. Jamboree is about exposing children to soccer, not grooming them for college scholarships.
Children get to play soccer in an age-specific program, and you, the parents, get to participate with them. We start with all players together for a group activity where we will introduce a soccer skill and parents often work with their child. These will include fun games for the children to practice their skills. Following the group session, players will be divided into smaller groups. Each group is made up of 6 to 8 players and we play 3 vs 3 during games. Each week different players will be grouped together and parents volunteer to manage the group and run the demonstrated activities for that session, under the guidance of a "Master" Coach.
Included in your registration fee is supplementary accident insurance, and uniform (jersey, shorts and socks). you will need to provide shin guards, a size 3 soccer ball as well as athletic shoes, soccer cleats are not required at this age.
